Yeaaahhhhh! French Charley's! Only I couldn't get in with a fake ID; only the girls could do that, and they hadda be hottt! And my old lady was that and did it. I used to live in Bedford Park, on Perry Ave. It was a great time and place. But I gre up in my teens in Riverdale by 236th and Cambridege Ave, and that was a great place to live! The German Bakery on the corner of 236th and Riverdale was the best, and the Dairy Queen on Riverdale Ave was a real authentic Ice Cream "store"... not a "parlor", a "STORE". I still remember Jack and Rochelle, the husband and wife team who operated it, and my old friend Neil who worked there. I was there at the store with Neil on the night that Nixon rescinded the draft. Neil didn't have to go to Canada after all. We screamed for joy that night. He never wanted to leave, but he was truly frightened to death of going to Vietnam. And after all that was said and done, who now who was alive back then coulda blamed him? Not me!
